Ivy Richards

Who is Ivy Richards?

  • I have experience stage managing shows and leading group projects at university. I have learnt how to play to my teams strengths and can support them.

  • From April 2016 until August 2018 I was an apprentice site carpenter. I worked on housing sites across the West Midlands. I studied at college for this apprenticeship and learnt many skills on site.

  • I have an understanding of lighting desks, QLabs, MadMapper, and rigging. My training has come from both Theatre Design at NTU and working as a technician at the Squire Performing Arts Centre.

  • During my time both at college studying IT and at NTU I learnt 3D modelling skills. My technical ability in SketchUp allows me both to design and create a better understanding of a model, ready for construction

  • I have been using Photoshop for a few years and have a strong grasp of the software. I am adept with photo manipulation, and drawing on Photoshop. This can be helpful to create storyboards and alter set images for possible lighting set ups.

  • I have developed model making skills while studying Theatre Design at NTU, as well as model making as a hobby. I use both recycled materials, as well as clay, foam, wood, and plastics.

  • With the use of both SketchUp and AutoCAD I am able to transfer a model and design into technical drawings

I’m a theatre designer, maker, stage manager, and technician based in Nottingham. I studied Theatre Design at NTU, and graduated summer 2022. Before studying at NTU I was a carpentry apprentice for 2.5 years and have a good understanding of construction. I have worked on a variety of shows under many different roles.
